Prophetic Word: God Has Given You The Green Light. Start The Book. Start The Business. Start The Dream.
“For the Lord rejoices to see the work begin…”
(Zechariah 4:10)
Yesterday, I was driving with my niece Kylee sitting in the seat next to me. She is 13 years old, deeply prophetic, and one of the greatest gifts in my life. We started talking about my career.
For those of you who may not know, I am a ghostwriter. I work with pastors, Messianic rabbis, business leaders, publishers, authors, and individuals who carry stories and messages that need to be released. I help people shape their books, clarify their message, and bring their stories to life.
It is beautiful work, and I love it.
But yesterday, Kylee asked me a question that went straight to my heart.
She said, “Don’t you ever want to see your own name on the book?”
I answered honestly and said, “I actually like that no one sees my name. I like to help others see their dreams.”
And that is true. There is something holy about serving behind the scenes. There is something very special about using your gift to help someone else carry what God placed inside of them.
But then I paused and said, “You know what? I know Jesus has books inside of me. I need the courage to finish them someday.”
As soon as I said those words, I felt the Holy Spirit begin stirring my heart.
Why someday?
Why not now?
The truth is, I started my own book about a year ago, but somewhere along the way, I put it down. I kept helping other people find their direction while placing my story on the back burner. I kept encouraging others to take the next step while delaying mine.
And I wonder how many of us do this.
We can see the calling on someone else’s life so clearly, but when it comes to our own, we second-guess, delay, overthink, and wait to feel extra inspired one day.
But I believe the Lord is saying to many of His people right now: It is time to take the leap of faith. Right now. This is the season. This is the time.
Maybe it is not a book for you. Maybe it is the courage to leave a job, start the business, apply for the opportunity, launch the ministry, record the podcast, write the song, begin the Bible study, go back to school, forgive the person, make the move, or finally pick up the dream you placed on the shelf.
Let me tell you why writing books is especially important right now. One year ago, more Bibles were sold than ever before. This tells me believers are hungry for Jesus, even when the world says otherwise. And many who are returning to the faith are looking for real stories from those who have actually walked this path. The world says people don’t read anymore, but the metrics say otherwise.
Also, fewer individuals are walking through the four walls of the church, and many are less affiliated with a particular religion than they once were. But in my personal opinion, more hearts are still open to encountering Jesus in a real and personal way. Believers, through the power of the Holy Spirit, are realizing that God still speaks and leads us. That is why digital media has become such a major mission field.
The “Acts” church that once met in homes now also lives through Zoom Bible studies and other online communities. Yes, community is biblical and essential, but as disciples of Jesus Christ, we must go to where others are gathering. Right now, that means books, social media, podcasts, small groups, YouTube, and other mission fields.
One thing I teach authors all the time is that you cannot write while worrying about who will actually buy the book. When we write for the Kingdom of God, we write first to glorify our Heavenly Father. Even if He is the only One who ever sees it, the obedience is still worthy.
That principle applies to every assignment.
When I first started this little ‘ole blog, I did not have a strategy or anyone to design it. I never dreamed it would have a global reach or would turn into a ministry! I simply wanted to share all the words Jesus gave me to help others. I wanted to give Him my little contribution to empower people in the Kingdom.
And God breathed on it.
That is what He does. When we give Him our little, He brings the increase. When we give Him our jar of oil, He creates the overflow.
When we give Him the five loaves and two fish, He knows how to feed the multitude.
GOD USES WHAT YOU SURRENDER
Throughout Scripture, God often begins with what looks small.
Moses had a staff in his hand. David had a sling and five stones. The widow had a small jar of oil. The disciples had five loaves and two fish. Mary had a womb and a yes.
God does not need human impressiveness to accomplish divine purpose.
He looks for surrender.
In 2 Kings 4, a widow came to Elisha in desperation. Her husband had died, her sons were in danger of being taken, and she had almost nothing left. Elisha asked her, “What do you have in your house?” (2 Kings 4:2).
She said she had nothing “except a small jar of olive oil” (2 Kings 4:2).
That word “except” matters.
Sometimes the very thing we discount is the thing God intends to use. She saw lack, but God saw supply. She saw not enough, but God saw the beginning of a miracle.
Elisha told her to gather empty jars, go inside, shut the door, and start pouring. As she poured, the oil kept flowing (2 Kings 4:3–6).
The miracle happened as she obeyed.
That is the word for us.
God is saying, “Start pouring, and I will cause the flow. You’re waiting for the blueprint, but faith begins with the next instruction.”
I saw this come alive in my own life when I left my corporate career. The Lord did not tell me everything that would happen. About a week after I resigned, He spoke to me in a dream about launching a business. The Holy Spirit gave me a specific platform to use to get started. I’d never heard the name in my life, so I couldn’t say it was my idea! But even after God gave me the instruction, I still had to do the work.
Jesus told me to gather my “jars,” and those jars were the gifts, skills, talents, and experiences He had already placed in my life. They represented different streams.
I did not know which one would work or how any of it would unfold, but I gave Him my little, and He caused the overflow.
And looking back, I can see that God was already ahead of me.
During my final year working with the Dallas Mavericks, I covered the Mavs Business Assist program. Every couple months, I would sit in rooms and listen to people share how they started their companies, took risks, built from the ground up, endured uncertainty, and kept going when they did not have the whole picture.
At the time, I thought I was just covering stories.
But now I realize God was letting me listen to my future.
Many of the things those entrepreneurs were saying were the very things I was about to live out. I did not know it then, but God was placing clues along the way. He was preparing me for the lessons ahead of time.
I love Zechariah 4:10: “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.”
A plumb line was a builder’s tool used to make sure a wall was straight. It measured alignment. It showed whether what was being built was upright, steady, and true.
That means God was not only rejoicing because the work had started. He was rejoicing because Zerubbabel was ready for action. The assignment was no longer just an idea, a longing, a prayer, or a conversation. His hand was finally on the tool. God smiles at this. He’s not asking you to manufacture the miracle.
He is asking you to take the first steps.
PROPHETIC ENCOURAGEMENT
OUR HEAVENLY FATHER IS A CREATOR; ENTREPRENEURSHIP IS IN OUR DNA. HE WILL HELP YOU CREATE THE DREAM
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is saying, “My child, I have given you the green light. You have asked Me for permission, but I have already placed the burden in your heart. You have waited for a sign, but the stirring itself has been a sign.”
The Father is saying, “Go. Do it. Take the leap of faith. Launch out into the deep. You are ready for this next step.”
This does not mean there will be no resistance. It does not mean every person will understand. It does not mean the road will be easy.
It means God has authorized the movement.
It means grace has been released for the assignment.
It means the oil will flow as you pour.
What you call small, the Lord calls a seed.
So ask yourself honestly: What have I placed on the shelf that God is asking me to pick back up?
What dream have I talked myself out of?
What instruction have I delayed because I was waiting to feel ready?
The Lord is breathing on surrendered beginnings.
The Lord is restoring courage to His people.
The Lord is calling His sons and daughters out of hesitation and into holy movement.
And I believe He is saying this with the tenderness of a Father and the authority of a King: “You have the green light. Now do it.”
Start small if you need to.
Start with trembling hands if you must.
But start.
Because when your little meets His power, overflow begins.
MY STORY, GOD’S GLORY
Let me tell you one more story.
A few months after I left the Dallas Mavericks, the owners gave employees significant bonuses. The amount would have been enough to sustain me for a couple years. Truth be told, I was really disappointed with God’s timing. I had walked away from the job, the salary, the benefits, the identity, the security and the world I knew.
Then, right after I left, provision seemed to show up in the very place I had just surrendered.
That bonus would have made things easier. There is no need to pretend otherwise. It would have helped me breathe. It would have given me options. It would have made the unknown feel less terrifying.
But later, the Lord showed me something deeper.
If I had received that bonus, I probably would have leaned on safety and predictability instead of learning to trust Jesus in the unknown. I probably would have gotten comfortable. I probably would have chosen a nice place to live, made a practical plan and tried to rebuild a version of my old life with spiritual language around it.
I may not have traveled the world with the Lord like I have the last of couple years. I may not have gone into the wilderness. I may not have learned how faithful God is when the cushion is gone. There are also certain assignments I probably would not have taken, assignments that ended up changing my life.
I will never forget one of the first jobs I accepted when I started my company. It was an $80 press release.
It was humbling.
I remember thinking, “Lord, this is where I am?”
But what I did not know was that one small assignment would turn into my longest-standing client. Through that relationship, I have traveled with the company, attended events in different places, and now serve on their executive leadership team. The owner has become someone I deeply admire and someone who has taught me so much, while his wife has become a dear friend. They are Christians, too, and over time, we have encouraged one another in our faith. When I first started working with them, the company was just beginning. Now they are opening a massive headquarters in a major city. It’s all quite remarkable!
And it all started with an $80 press release.
If I had that bonus cushion, I probably would not have taken that job. I would have thought it was too small. I may have dismissed it as beneath me. I may have missed what God had hidden inside a humble beginning.
That is what I want you to see.
The Holy Spirit’s math does not always make sense on paper. His provision does not always follow the rules of the world. He opens doors you could not have opened. He connects you with people you could not have reached. He sustains you in ways you cannot fully explain.
When I was afraid to start my business, God kept bringing me to Exodus 33:2: “I will send an angel before you and drive out the Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.”
That word was so saturated in my bones that I thought about it each day. I did not fully understand all God was doing, but I knew He was going before me.
The world will tell you to make sure you have the salary, the benefits, the backup plan and the safety net before you ever make a move. And wisdom matters. Stewardship matters. Planning matters.
However, there are moments in our lives when obedience to Jesus simply will not make sense to the natural mind.
There were times when I looked downright crazy for my decisions. There were seasons when people did not understand what I was doing. There were seasons when I had to lean on family because I was very scared and unsure how everything would work out. Faith is not something we simply talk about. Faith is a muscle that has to be built.
And the only way it grows is through resistance.
Still, walking away from my career was one of the greatest things that ever happened to me because I learned that God is not only faithful when life is stable. He is faithful in the wilderness. He is faithful on the road. He is faithful in the unknown. He is faithful when the old provision is gone and the new provision has not fully appeared yet.
It is very hard to rattle me these days because I have seen the goodness of God in the land of the living. Jesus has taught me so much over these last two and a half years, and I truly stand in awe of all I have learned. Many of you also have a “Kingdom trailblazer” anointing. You are paving a path for others to someday follow.
It takes extreme courage to follow Jesus when you don’t have a backup plan, but He will always come through. We walk by faith, not by sight.
Remember….
When God gives you the green light, you may not have the safety net. You may not have the applause. You may not have all the answers. People may laugh at you. Those closest to you may question your decisions and wonder what you are even doing.
You may have to take small, humbling steps that do not look impressive at first.
But do not despise the small beginning.
King Jesus rejoices when we begin in faith. He sees the seed before anyone else sees the fruit. He knows what is hidden inside the thing that looks insignificant.
If He is leading you, He will sustain you.
Your testimony will not be, “I figured it all out.”
Your testimony will be, “God did it!”
Beloved, in this season, I pray you have the courage to take the leap of faith, even when you feel afraid. Trust me, your life will never be the same! One day, you will look back and marvel at how deeply Jesus cared for you, how faithfully He led you, and how perfectly He sustained you.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. I’m here as a sister in Christ to help.
I pray the Lord Jesus saturates you with so many blessings in this season. He loves you very much!!! Please don’t ever give up and DREAM BIG!!! ✨
